In the 1960's the Cocktain Party was King. Remember the Dick Van Dyke show where everyone was in the living room with cocktails in hand, wearing their little black dresses and suits? That was pretty cool.
I'd like to bring back the Cocktail Party in all it's glory. Finger foods made from the "new" refrigerated products like crescent rolls, and drinks with names like the Grasshopper and the Brandy Alexander, the Gimlet and the Harvey Wallbanger.
This is an invitation to a Cyber-Cocktail Party. What are you bringing? Here's what I will have for us:
1 oz Vodka
1/2 Oz Galliano
4 Oz Orange Juice
Place all in a tall glass with ice and stir.
Asparagus Rolls (from the 1960s)
8 oz blue cheese
8 oz cream cheese
1 can asparagus spears (I guess they couldn't get it fresh too easily back then)
1 loan wonder bread (ewwww, pasty white bread)
1 sticks melted butter
bring cheeses to room temp and mix together.
Cut crusts off bread and roll flat with rolling pin
Spread cheese mixture on a piece of bread, add a spear of asparagus and roll up tight. Dip in melted butter and place on cookie sheet. Freeze for 1 hour.
Cut each in half and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes then serve warm.
